One of the joys of the birding in the Americas is the fantastic family of Hummingbirds. They have amazing colours that almost glow in the tight light.

This is a male Golden-tailed Sapphire. A few visited the garden of a house we visited near Caracas. I was called, appropriately La

here.

The little Fork-tailed
Woodnymph, approaching a feeder, shows how the colours light up in the right conditions.

When it was sitting quietly it was a much more a sober looking bird.
