Frogs - spring is here !

At this time of year the frogs arrive in the ponds in my garden. As I walk towards them I am aware of the low croaking and then suddenly, as they see my movement, the whole surface looks as if it is boiling as they dive for cover. The Common Frog, Rana temporaria , is widespread in the UK. There are several other species around, most probably introduced and in Kent the very noisy Marsh Frog can be encountered in the right habitat.

As you can see, the frogs have already laid a lot of spawn, so now we have to hope that we don't get a sudden frost that kills it before the tadpoles hatch. This pond is about 3 metres across and I'd be surprised if there are less than 100 frogs in it at the moment!

That's a fanastic shot of the frogs! You've demonstrated that "boiling point" quite well.
Thanks for your input on my site - since I am not a bird expert like you, please feel free to keep me honest ;-)
