Puss Moth

This was a surprise last night, as I have only caught four in the last seven years.

The books say they fly in May to July and my five records span 29th April to 26th June. I find this one of the most attractive of our Moths. They over winter as pupae and the emerging females lay eggs in small groups, one to three on the leaves of their food plant, Poplars and Willows.
This is the last post I'll post myself for a few days, blogger's new facility for forward dating posts will be in operation till Sunday, let's hope it works.

One of my favourites too. I`ve only ever had 1 at light in 8 years of trapping.

Never seen the larvae yet, despite extensive searching.
