Now we are passed the middle of August migrant birds will soon become the centre of attraction for the Bockhill birders. Each year brings its surprises, but with the Blue-cheeked Bee-eater already paying a visit is there another mega waiting to be found?
It's that time of year again, when the artificial perches of large bales of straw are positioned over the big field at the top of the cliffs.
Most of the time it's Wood Pigeons, Crows or Magpies that take advantage of the view provided.
It is worth looking though, it is difficult to find passing Wheatears in the stubble but when they perch up they become much more obvious.
Sometimes the small bird peeking out isn't a Wheatear, Whinchats are already on the move and often use fences or hedges a look out posts, and of course they makes use of the bales to watch for the insects that form the bulk of their diet.

Wheatears and Whinchats are passing through here too. Normally get more in Sept.
