I have noticed over the last few weeks that I never see Great Spotted Woodpeckers on the peanut feeders anymore. This is one acting as expected from March 2016. This week each time I've seen a Great Spot feeding it has been on a sun-flower heart feeder. Such has been the wind and light I haven't taken a picture, but I was wondering if this change was widespread, or have the ones feeding in my garden made a unilateral decision to change?

I do enjoy reading your blog but haven't commented before. I stopped feeding peanuts some years ago as all species (including Great Spotted Woodpeckers) were ignoring them and just eating sunflower hearts.
Hi Ragged Robin", thanks for the comment. I see you are also a "mother", I hope you seen my mothing blog http://tonysmothstoidentiy.blogspot.co.uk/
Tony.
I too have noticed a female has changed gradually to preferring sunflower hearts to peanuts in the last few months.
Hi again - I hadn't seen your moth blog so will certainly be checking it out. Thank you for the link.
