Grey Squirrel

This Grey Squirrel is an unwelcome visitor to the garden. I love wild animals but unfortunately these introduced animals, they come from North America, are very damaging to our environment. As well as forcing out the native Red Squirrel from most of England they are very damaging to woodlands, their bark stripping preventing regeneration and take an enormous amount of birds eggs and young birds from our woodland birds. This is now a major problem and currently research is going on to find out just how much damage they do.

I did not know this. We have the same kinds of problems with starlings, also an introduced species.
