

It's always nice to see Great Spots back in the garden, but what would really be exciting would be a lesser Spot! Lesser Spotted Woodpeckers are both far scarcer than Great Spots but also much more unobtrusive. At Crayford we lived quite close to two sites where they bred, but I rarely saw them and only once did we get a garden visit.
