You wouldn't believe it, but that little pointed bit sticking up is capable of waking the whole neighbourhood.

I was just putting the kettle on at 07.05am, this morning when I heard the "heavy metal drummer" at Work. I grabbed my camera and opened the door slowly and crept out to get a view.

The first surprise I had was that there was a Starling up there, but it left quickly. It must have been like being in the front row of a Ted Nugent concert. The Woodpecker gave a couple more bursts and he put his head up to have a look round, and as usual immediately was aware of me and my camera and left. At least this was the first time I have actually got a picure of him on the roof.
