We've only lived in the village for six years, but I've known the area as a visitor for many more and I must say that I'm sad that the high street only has one shop open now. I know that the closure of the Post Office was unfortunate but it really does detract from the feel of the place. It always seemed like the heart of the village. A look at an old postcard, when there were several different shops and banks open makes me really envious.
