A case of now you see it now you don't.

The Buff-tip is one of those wonders of nature. Looked at away from the Birch Tree that provides its natural home it is bodly patterned and stands out from most backgrounds. On this Birch Tree it is far less obvious and put at the right ange looks just like the end of a broken twig. We are just in their flight period and despite very low catches compared to most years in July I've caught a couple in the last two nights.
Another moth I was pleased to catch on Monday night was this Pine Hawkmoth.

It's only the third one I've caught, the first was in June 2005 and the second in July last year, so I'm not expecting any more this year.
