With December looming it is surprising to find that there are still some moths around. One of my favourites at this time of year is the appropriately named December Moth. I think the thick hairy ruff round the head must have some protective value from the cold weather.
From front on they look like a Bull waiting to charge, and the antennae are magnificent.Other Wildlife I noticed quite a few Fieldfares in one of the hedgerows near West Langdon, perhaps this is a sign of bad weather to come. In the garden I found a hibernating Common Newt when I moved a paving stone, I replaced under another stone and hope that the disturbance hasn't done it any harm.

I love the way the leaf he's standing on looks like shiny green crazy paving.
